Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker medication widely prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), and certain types of arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm). Co-administration with aspirin may rarely increase the risk of bleeding. Patients treated with both Verapamil and digoxin require careful digoxin dosage adjustment, as chronic verapamil treatment can increase serum digoxin levels by 50% to 75%, potentially leading to digitalis toxicity. Co-administration with other oral antihypertensive agents produces additive blood pressure-lowering effects. Inform your doctor about all medications you take, especially disopyramide, flecainide, quinidine, phenobarbital, cyclosporine, lithium-containing medications, beta-blockers, and statins. This calcium channel blocker may also affect certain liver function test results.



Missed dose

If you miss a dose of Verapamil, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.



Overdose
