Common use
Tibofem (tibolone) is a synthetic steroid hormone prescribed for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in postmenopausal women. When you buy Tibofem online, you receive a medication with estrogenic, progestogenic, and androgenic activity that provides comprehensive relief from menopausal symptoms. Unlike traditional estrogen-only or combined estrogen-progestogen HRT, tibolone is metabolized into three active metabolites that selectively activate different hormone receptors throughout the body. Tibofem effectively manages vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats, treats urogenital atrophy and vaginal dryness, helps prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis and associated bone fractures, and may improve mood, energy levels, and libido in postmenopausal women. It is particularly suitable for women at least one year past their last menstrual period who seek comprehensive menopausal symptom relief with a single medication.
Dosage and direction
Tibofem tibolone tablets are taken orally, one tablet (2.5 mg) once daily, with or without food, at approximately the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Treatment should begin at least 12 months after the last natural menstrual period to avoid irregular bleeding. For women transitioning from cyclic or continuous combined HRT, Tibofem can be started on the day after completing the previous regimen. No additional progestogen supplementation is required with tibolone, as it provides its own progestogenic activity to protect the endometrium. Your doctor will periodically reassess the need for continued therapy, using the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with treatment goals and individual risk profile.
Precautions
Before starting Tibofem hormone replacement therapy, inform your doctor about any history of breast cancer or other hormone-dependent neoplasms, venous thromboembolism (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism), arterial thromboembolic disease (stroke, myocardial infarction), liver disease or abnormal liver function tests, heart disease, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, endometrial hyperplasia, migraine headaches, or diabetes. Regular mammograms and breast examinations are recommended during treatment. Monitor for signs of unusual vaginal bleeding, breast lumps, sudden severe headache, chest pain, leg swelling, or vision changes, as these may indicate serious complications. Avoid smoking during Tibofem therapy, as tobacco use significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular complications including blood clots, stroke, and heart disease.
Contraindications
Do not use Tibofem if you have a known allergy to tibolone or any component of the tablet. Tibofem is contraindicated in women with known or suspected pregnancy, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, known or suspected hormone-sensitive cancers (including breast cancer and endometrial cancer), active or recent arterial thromboembolic disease (stroke, myocardial infarction), active or history of venous thromboembolism (DVT, pulmonary embolism), untreated endometrial hyperplasia, active liver disease or a history of liver tumors, and porphyria.
Possible side effect
Common side effects of Tibofem tibolone include vaginal spotting or bleeding (particularly during the first months of treatment), abdominal pain, breast tenderness or pain, headache, weight gain, increased facial or body hair growth, and genital pruritus. These effects often diminish as the body adjusts to treatment. Serious adverse effects requiring immediate medical attention include venous thromboembolism (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism), stroke, myocardial infarction, endometrial cancer, breast cancer, liver disorders, and severe allergic reactions. Long-term HRT use has been associated with a small increased risk of breast cancer; discuss the benefits and risks with your doctor regularly.
Drug interaction
Tibofem may interact with anticoagulants (warfarin), as tibolone may enhance anticoagulant effects and increase bleeding risk. Certain anticonvulsants (phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital), rifampicin, and other CYP3A4 inducers may reduce tibolone effectiveness by increasing its metabolism. St. John's Wort may also decrease tibolone levels. Medications affecting liver enzymes may alter tibolone's therapeutic effect. Inform your doctor about all prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, herbal remedies, and supplements you are taking to ensure safe and effective hormone therapy.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Tibofem, take it as soon as you remember unless more than 12 hours have passed since the scheduled time. In that case, skip the missed dose and take the next tablet at your regular time the following day. Do not take two tablets to compensate for a missed dose. If you frequently forget doses, consider setting a daily reminder.
Overdose
Tibofem overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, abdominal discomfort, vaginal bleeding, and other hormonal side effects. Acute toxicity from tibolone is unlikely to be life-threatening. There is no specific antidote; seek medical attention if overdose is suspected and provide supportive care as clinically appropriate.
Storage
Store Tibofem tablets at controlled room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius (59-86 degrees Fahrenheit), away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep the tablets in their original blister packaging until ready to use and store out of reach of children and pets. Do not use after the expiration date.
